This is one in a series of posts reviewing and looking at how some of the SEO companies which use bulk emails/spam with ‘we can help your terrible site’ type emails really can (and actually mostly can’t!) help your site.
This time the email came in from ‘John’ who was using a Gmail address that sort of had his name in plus a few numbers… The spam email subject was “Need Search Engine Rankings/Website Traffic/Sales Volume?” and went:

This one (and all the subsequent ones) came from another Gmail account with the company name and a number in…
As their email didn’t answer any of my questions, I asked again:
Thanks for your email. However, you’ve not answered one of my questions.
Please can you tell me why my site needs your help? What’s wrong with it?
And I got this reply:
Hello James Cooper,
do you want to promote your products to place in first page of Google ?
we’ll help you to place your keywords in the first page of Google to get good results from Google
we’ll provide you more customers
sounds good ?
Still no answer to my question, so I asked yet again:
You STILL haven’t answered my question.
WHY does my site need you help? Have you checked how it ranks already?
Please answer my questions.
That got this response:
My Friend, your website looking good but your no keyword 1st page from google.
Do you want to promote your products to place in first page of Google ?
Oh, so my site is ‘looking good’ now – but in John’s original email, it had all sorts of issues..! But apparently my site still isn’t on the 1st page of Google (it is). So I replied asking some more questions:
I’ve been a web designer and developer for 20 years. I like to reply to SEO spammers to see what ‘services’ they offer and the things they say and use to get clients.
My Christmas site www.whychristmas.com has also been on the web for nearly 20 years. It had well over 25 MILLION pageloads last year – so it’s doing pretty well!
Have you actually checked what Google ranking my site has? Because it’s already on the first page for a huge number of results.
It’s on the first page of Google for searches like ‘Christmas’, ‘Christmas Around the world’, ‘Christmas Traditions’ and ‘Christmas Customs’?
Please can you explain why you use random Gmail accounts to send spam from? Is it because you don’t want to get you main domain into trouble by sending spam from it?
Do you also think it’s acceptable to break multiple international anti-spam laws to get customers?
Neither of those are very professional…
That got me this rather strange response:
MY Friend, i understand , my friend, if you help me…
As that didn’t seem to make much sense, I asked for some more information:
I’m sorry I don’t understand you email. What you do want me to help you?
I thought it was my site that needed your help because of all the ‘on-page and on-site issues’ and that it ‘is not search engine friendly’.
So what do you mean?
And that got this rather astonishing reply:
My Friend, IF You provide me SEO and SMO customers, then we free working your website Off-page work.
if you provide me any SEO and SMO customer 50% pay you ok.
Can you help me? Our company in INDIA then we really good cost working for you .
if you provide me SEO and SMO customers.
Can You give me whatsapp no ?
So after I’ve said that I don’t think they’re professional and asked why they’re spammers – rather than answering that – they want me to get customers to them!!!! WHAT!?!?!?
So I replied again:
You’re a spammer who breaks several international laws to spam people.
You claim to be based int he USA when you are not – as you say you’re in India. So you’re lying.
You claim to be “the Best SEO Services Company in the USA” but your site has some very basic SEO and web errors on it. So this is another lie.
Why should I, or anyone, trust you?
I’ve not had a reply to that email. Perhaps they’ve finally got the message!
Their Report & Recommendations
They didn’t send any report or information about my site (even though I asked multiple times). However attached to the email, with their first information about their plans, were two (rather badly put together) PDFs. One on ‘Return On Investment From SEO’ and one on ‘Work Details for SEO, SEM, SMO’. (Both still dated 2020…)
They were filled with A LOT of marketing speak and waffle. Some it rather unintelligible such as “CNS Web Solution is a Digital Marketing organization providing food each need of a customer…” and “Our point is to achieve each business entryway thus we have different moderate valuing bundles that make it feasible for each entrepreneur to gain our administrations and results.” and that’s from only one paragraph!
This is quite an amazing paragraph:
“Throughout the years, the formula for positioning achievement has included things like title labels, meta portrayals, catchphrase labels, watchword thickness, H1 labels, picture properties, joins from specific spaces, volume of connections, nature of connections, inner connection structure, stay message in inbound connections, and the sky is the limit from there.”
I’ve been in the web business 20 years and I’m not sure what some of that is about…!
One of their ‘Best Tips for SEO Today’ is “Make sure you have a Google+ personal profile and that it’s tied to your content.” Only Google+ closed nearly two years ago – that doesn’t seems very up to date!
I ran some of the text in the PDFs through the ‘BlaBlaMeter’ site (which searches for marketing speaking and jargon) and it got a VERY high score!
There is some good information in the PDFs. However buried under so much jargon and meaningless marketing rubbish that I don’t think an average web user would be able to find it!
And some of their maths for the ‘return of investment’ on SEO just make my brain hurt. (Especially with phrases such as “Taking a gander at it as a cost, it seems costly” – sorry what?!)
But there is one phrase in their PDFs which seem to sum them up “It is simply a waste of time and money.”!
Looking at Their Site
With SEO spammers, I also like to look at their sites, to see if they practice what they preach (I mean would you trust a plumber who had leaking and rusty pipes all over their own house?!); and also to compare their site with a site they say they can help…
Their site is http://www.techzenon.com/
For HTML Validation, my site has no errors. Their site has 6 errors and 32 warnings. That’s not too bad for an SEO spammer.
Using the ‘WAVE’ Accessibility Testing Tool, their site has 7 errors and 18 contrast errors (not bad for an SEO spammer!). My site has no errors of either kind!
Using the GTMetrix speed test tool their site gets:
Overall Grade: F
My site gets:
Overall Grade: A
So my site is perfect!!
Their site is rather less than perfect…
There’s no alt text on the logo. That is terrible for both SEO and accessibility.
There’s no heading 1 tag on the home page – that’s one of the most important things for SEO to tell search engines what your site is about. As we’ll see below, they claim to be “the Best SEO Services Company in the USA” yet they don’t seem to know some of the very basics of SEO!
The site runs on WordPress. They haven’t changed the default site name and description which comes with an ‘out of the box’ WordPress installation. So if the site is shared on somewhere like Facebook or Twitter, the site’s name is ‘My Blog’ and the description is ‘Just Another WordPress Site’! It also means that the meta titles (one of the most important thing on a site for SEO) all end in ‘My Blog’ not exactly professional!
What’s even worse is that they’re using a very good SEO plugin on their site which can also easily handle those things (I use the same one on this site!). It’s actually pretty hard to have it setup as badly as CNS Web Solution have managed to do (and it’s basically unbelievable that an SEO company would have things set like that…)!
Despite all of the above, CNS Web Solution claim to be “the Best SEO Services Company in the USA”, hmmmmm… On their site there is an address in New York for their ‘Head Office’ (or ‘Hard Office’ as it’s called on their email footer…) as well as an address in Bhubaneswar for their ‘Branch Office’.
However, the address in New York, isn’t a full one as it doesn’t have a building number – and most of the area in the address they give is used by a very posh Hotel. They also have a US phone number – but that’s in Colorado!
Their domain was registered in India. So, I would put money on the fact that they don’t have an office or any connection to the USA at all…!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I have no issues with Indian based web companies; but I do have issues with any company that flat out lies!
On their about page they say that “Our internet showcasing organization has over 10 years of involvement in advanced advertising administrations” but their domain was registered in April 2018 – so that doesn’t seem to add up either…
They use an off the shelf WordPress theme and have left in all the default ‘client’ logos on the home page.
The blog section on the site also just has the dummy posts in left over from the theme installation. The latest one is the standard ‘Hello World’ one (which is installed with every WordPress site) and it’s dated 18th June 2019, which would make me think that’s when the site was actually created…
There are social media links in the site’s footer. Only two of them don’t link to anything – it’s like they don’t actually know how to remove them. And the link to LinkedIn is broken. Oh dear.
On their first four emails, CNS Web Solution said (basically promised) to get my on the 1st page of Google. However, Google themselves have something to say about companies that claim things like that…
Beware of SEO companies that claim to guarantee rankings, allege a “special relationship” with Google, or advertise a “priority submit” to Google.from Google’s “Do you need an SEO?”
CNS Web Solution are yet another SEO spammer who are happy to hide behind a random Gmail account when spamming.
Their emails and PDFs are some of the most odd and almost unbelievable communications I’ve had from SEO spammers.
Their site is one of the worst configured ones for SEO I’ve seen in quite a while, yet they claim to be the best SEO company in the USA!!!
So if CNS Web Solution want to help with your site, I personally wouldn’t trust them to make me a cup of tea, let alone have them go anywhere near my website.
But the choice, as ever, is yours.
