This is one in a series of posts reviewing and looking at how some of the SEO companies which use bulk emails/spam with ‘we can help your terrible site’ type emails really can (and actually mostly can’t!) help your site.
This is a bit of a different SEO spam email than the previous ones I’ve covered. But as you’ll see, it doesn’t make it any better!
The emails came from an ‘Erin’ who was using a gmail.com email.
Here’s the first email from Erin:
I am huge jpc-design.com fan. I especially liked your recent post on Facebook.
I take keen interest in making collaboration with our technical skills like woocommerce, shopiy, craft cms, wordpress, magento, converting pretty innovative psds to pixel ideal tested html & phonegap cell app development, resulting is they are running now with plenty of clients within the technology and work with companies like yours and make your dream projects on table.
Would be interested in a similar? I have examples for you to get an idea of what it will look like.
Just say the word and I will set up a meeting to discuss the finer details.
One thing that made me know this was spam from the start was that Erin says she’s liked my ‘recent post’ on Facebook. Well, I don’t use Facebook. In fact the last time I posted on my ‘Business’ page on there was SEVEN YEARS AGO!!!
As you can see, there are also lots of basic English errors. And several of the sentences use phrases that a native English speaker simply wouldn’t use. (I’m also guessing they also mean ‘shopify’ rather than ‘shopiy’!)
So I replied to ‘Erin’ saying that I didn’t think that was the real name of the spammer or that they even knew anything about me.
Somewhat to my surprise, ‘Erin’ actually replied with the below email:
Many thanks for your reply and i Apologies for our inconvenience. Yes you are right, we are based in India.
We are using sudo name and we use that purely for marketing purpose only. We are web development Company who help companies like yours with their development needs.
I work for company called KGN Technologies (https://www.kgntechnologies.com)
So rather amazingly, KGN Technologies are freely admitting to using a fake email and name for ‘marketing purposes’. (I’m also guessing they actually mean ‘pseudonym’ rather than ‘sudo name’ – again another basic English mistake.)
But let’s state the simple truth here. KGN Technologies are admitting to LYING to get new clients. They are yet another dodgy SEO company lying to make themselves look more important.
No decent company has to do that. And no decent has to spam to get clients either!
Looking at Their Site
With SEO spammers, I also like to look at their sites, to see if they practice what they preach (I mean would you trust a plumber who had leaking and rusty pipes all over their own house?!); and also to compare their site with a site they say they can help…
Their site is: https://www.kgntechnologies.com
On their home page, they claim to use “high quality website development standards” but their site is riddled with coding issues (11 HTML errors and 27 warnings) and has a huge number of accessibility issues (23 errors and 19 alerts).
And their Google PageSpeed scores are also fairly terrible – 54/100 on Desktop and 19/100 on Mobile!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I have no issues with Indian based web companies; but I do have issues with any company that flat out lies!
KGN not only does this, when challenged they admitted to it!
Combine this with the fact that they have a very un-optimised site, I certainly wouldn’t describe KGN Technologies as ‘trustworthy’…
But the choice, as ever, is yours.
