This is a post about how I made the site for Stripy Lightbulb CIC.
Stripy Lightbulb CIC offers e-learning about Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (M.E./C.F.S.) to professionals (in healthcare, education and business) who have a duty of care over M.E./C.F.S. patients.

Readers of this blog might not be aware that I’ve had M.E./C.F.S. for over 25 years, since I was 11.
So helping to raise awareness, education and understanding of this illness, which is still surrounded by stigma and disbelief is very important and personal to me.
Sally Callow, the Managing Director of Stripy Lightbulb CIC also has M.E. and is also an existing client, with ME Foggy Dog, a fantastic stuffed toy dog who travels the world raising awareness for M.E./C.F.S.
Stripy Lightbulb CIC is Sally’s latest project to help others understand and learn about the condition. (A CIC is a Community Interest Company, a business with a social benefit.) This new business offers e-learning and training to Business, Education and Healthcare professionals who have a duty of care over M.E./C.F.S. patients. Sally says:
Although anyone in the wider community will benefit from participating in this training, we have identified three key industries in need of training: Healthcare, business (Human Resources and Occupational Health), and education. We have designed the courses to be industry-specific to ensure maximum benefit for participants. These three industries have the most contact with M.E./C.F.S. patients in their daily lives. M.E./C.F.S. training will lead to greater support and understanding for M.E./C.F.S. patients and will create more effective working practices for the professionals who participate.

The site is actually two sites, the main ‘public’ site which is explains about the training, why its needed and the benefits for those who take the courses; and the ‘course’ sites, where the e-learning takes place.
Both are run on WordPress and use the GeneratePress theme. For the courses, the LearnDash e-learning plugin has been used, together with WooCommerce to sell the training courses.
Sally and I are very pleased with how it’s come together. Sally says:
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with James on my Stripy Lightbulb CIC e-learning platform project. It really is a case of ‘working with’, although James is an independent web designer, I feel as if he is a part of my team. I give him ideas of what I want and some idea of the platforms I want to use and he offers recommendations and suggestions as to what would work best. He also steers clear of spending money on things that aren’t necessary and I know his suggestions are in the best interests of my company. James does excellent work and I thoroughly recommend his company.
